Hickory Square Serves Clients through the Star Waiver Program

Located in the city of Kaufman around 30 minutes from central Dallas, Hickory Square provides assisted living on a 50,000 square foot facility that hosts 60 beds. The assisted living facility is part of the Rosehaven Group, which is owned and operated by Wendy and Ray Manning. Dedicated to providing personalized care at an affordable price, Hickory Square is open to various payment options and is qualified to accept Medicaid through the Star Waiver program.

The STAR+PLUS Medicaid Waiver enables Texans who are disabled or are 65 years or older to live at home or in assisted living facilities and obtain the qualified nursing services they need. This program covers both nonmedical long-term services and medical care.

For individuals who have limited financial capability, nursing home care is paid by Medicaid. For people who instead prefer to live at home, there are instances when Medicaid will pay for care in these locations if such care can be delivered at a lower cost than that charged by a nursing home. This is carried out through Medicaid Waivers.
